Dear:
As a member of the Rotary Club of Bethlehem, I invite you to tune in to WFMZ channel 69 on Saturday December 8th, from 7-10 PMfor an important fund raising event that will enable a team of volunteer physicians and staff to dramatically change some young lives for the better. One of Rotary’s most heartwarming projects is called Rotaplast. On Rotaplast missions, volunteers travel to developing countries to perform corrective surgery on children with cleft lips and cleft palates. In the US, these birth defects are corrected soon after birth. But in parts of the world without these resources, children with these facial deformities are ostracized. Some cultures even brand these children as possessed. These children are the poorest of the poor, their parents truly desperate to help their children who have problems eating and breathing. Because of their condition, such children are usually not permitted to go to school and all too often have few friends.
Rotaplast exists to change this – at no financial cost to these children and their families. Our club is joining with the 49 other clubs of our Rotary District to host an on air auction to benefit a 2008 Rotaplast Mission to Venezuela that will enable a team of volunteer doctors and staff from our region and beyond to perform surgical repair of cleft lips and cleft palates of 100 children.
This important event will feature many fabulous items. Here are just a few:
• One week at an oceanfront house in Hilton head valued at $2.500
• One week in a 4 bedroom house in Floridavalued at $2,500.
• Authentic blown glass vase valued at $2,500

• Golf for three players at Saucon Valley Country Club
• Golf and lunch for four players at Skytop Lodge
